Commissions

I welcome commissions for bespoke paintings, working with you to bring your ideas and visions to life.

Whether you're looking for a unique painting for your home or business, or a meaningful gift for someone special,
I work closely with you to create an original piece that reflects your individual vision and requirements.

What can I commission?

I offer a range of bespoke oil paintings, including landscapes, still lifes, custom portraits (including pets), and scenes from films or television shows. Whether you have a specific idea in mind or would like to explore some possibilities together, I'm happy to discuss your requirements and what might be possible.

Please note that all of my paintings are created using oil paints.

How does it work?

To enquire about a commission, simply fill out the contact form on my website or email me directly at marthayuillartist@gmail.com with a brief description of what you have in mind.

I'll then get back to you by email with some further questions to help establish the details of your commission and prepare an invoice. Please note that I do not accept or manage commission enquiries through Instagram DMs.

What does a commission cost?

The cost of a commission will depend on a number of factors, including the size and complexity of the painting, the level of detail, materials required and time involved.

I'll provide an indication of the price as early as possible in the process, and no work will begin until the price has been agreed upon.

Please be aware that I ask for a 50% deposit before I begin working on your painting.

How long will it take?

Completion times will vary depending on the size and complexity of the painting, as well as my existing commission schedule.

As I work exclusively with oil paints, it's important to allow sufficient time for each painting to dry fully. I generally allow four to six weeks for drying before varnishing and preparing the painting for dispatch.

Please bear this in mind when enquiring, particularly if you have a specific date or occasion in mind.

FAQ

Can I request a particular subject or colour palette?

Yes, I'm happy to work with you on details such as colour palette, composition and layout to ensure the painting reflects your vision. However, it's important that you're familiar with my existing work and art style before commissioning a piece, as I want to ensure we're on the same page creatively. I'm happy to accommodate individual preferences, but commissions will remain in keeping with my established style.

Can I commission a painting based on a photograph?

Absolutely. I welcome photographs and reference images, and encourage you to share any visual inspiration that might help me understand what you're looking for.

Do you accept commissions for businesses?

Yes, I'm very happy to accept commissions for businesses and commercial spaces. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, a 50% deposit is required before I begin work on your painting. This covers the initial materials and helps secure the time allocated to your commission. The remaining balance will be due once the painting is complete.

Can paintings be delivered?

Yes, I can arrange delivery and will discuss the options with you during the commission process. Any associated delivery costs will be included in your invoice.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend enquiring at least two months in advance of when you'd ideally like your painting. This allows sufficient time for the painting to be completed, dry fully and be prepared for dispatch. Please bear in mind that timeframes may vary depending on my existing workload.
